Actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee, known for her role in the television series Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and appearances on the reality show Bigg Boss, has taken to social media to announce the tragic death of her friend, Amarnath Ghosh, who was fatally shot in the US on the night of Tuesday, March 1. Through a detailed post on her X account, Bhattacharjee has called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, to assist in seeking justice for Ghosh’s untimely demise.
Bhattacharjee expressed her grief and confusion over the motive behind Ghosh’s killing, stating that the reasons and details regarding the perpetrator remain undisclosed. She shared that Ghosh, an only child whose mother passed away three years ago and whose father died in his childhood, was a Kolkata native and an exceptional dancer pursuing a PhD. He was reportedly taking an evening walk in the St. Louis Academy neighborhood when he was shot multiple times by an unidentified assailant.
Highlighting the efforts of Ghosh’s friends in the US to recover his body, Bhattacharjee appealed to the Indian Embassy in the US for support in uncovering the reasons behind his murder, underscoring the lack of family members left to advocate on his behalf. Devoleena Bhattacharjee is an active social media user, often voicing her thoughts on various issues. Professionally, she gained fame for her portrayal of Gopi Bahu in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, a role she reprised in the show’s revival.
