The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported light rainfall in Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) on Saturday morning, noting a starting temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. The weather authority anticipates additional rainfall to continue across the day. The IMD forecasts a generally overcast sky for Delhi, with potential for light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, alongside gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 km/h. There’s also a chance for hail in certain areas. Over the coming days, temperature highs and lows are expected to hover around 27.4 and 13.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Earlier forecasts by the IMD highlighted a strong chance of rain in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, as well as parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh from March 1 to 3. The department also predicts a high likelihood of both rain and snow in areas such as Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand until March 3.
While some regions of India may experience lesser-than-normal rainfall, the Western Himalayan and southern Peninsula areas are slated for almost normal rain patterns in the second week of March. During this period, a notable increase in the maximum temperatures by 2-4 degrees Celsius is expected, particularly in south peninsular India, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
