Munawar Faruqui has addressed claims suggesting that he was the ‘fixed winner’ of Bigg Boss 17, asserting that he cannot change people’s opinions and has no intention to do so.
In response to accusations of being the ‘fixed winner’ of Bigg Boss 17, Munawar Faruqui shared his perspective in an interview with ETimes. The stand-up comedian urged those questioning the fairness of his victory to watch the entire season, emphasizing the scrutiny he underwent. He acknowledged that, while he may have wanted to alter people’s perceptions about him before entering the show, he now recognizes that changing their opinions is beyond his control.
Addressing the fixed winner allegations, Munawar Faruqui stated, “If one has to go through such intense scrutiny as a supposed fixed winner, then it can’t truly be a fixed winner. The entire season is evidence that I earned nothing effortlessly; I worked hard and a lot. My message to those calling me a fixed winner is – ‘Just sit and watch the entire season, and you will realize that it wasn’t fixed.'”
Faruqui acknowledged the possibility of people having such feelings, particularly when dealing with a strong fan base and the high stakes involved in reality shows. He expressed that winning requires giving one’s best effort. Despite wanting to change perceptions before entering Bigg Boss, he now accepts that changing everyone’s opinion is an unrealistic goal.
Following Munawar Faruqui’s victory, actor Abhishek Kumar, the first runner-up, garnered attention on social media. Some viewers argued that Abhishek was more deserving of the trophy, while reports suggested that Munawar secured a substantial lead in votes. Munawar received the Bigg Boss 17 trophy, a new car, and a grand cash prize of ₹50 lakh as part of his win. This marks Munawar’s second reality show victory after Lock Upp season 1 in 2022. Abhishek graciously congratulated Munawar and showed respect to host Salman Khan during the grand finale.
