In a heartfelt announcement, his family expressed, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of the esteemed Padma Shri awardee, Pankaj Udhas, on February 26, 2024, following a prolonged battle with illness.”

Born on May 17, 1951, in Jetpur, Gujarat, Udhas’ illustrious career began in the early ’80s with the release of his album ‘Aahat’, establishing him as a pivotal figure in the ghazal genre in India. His iconic rendition of ‘Chitthi Aayee Hai’ for the movie ‘Naam’ remains an evergreen favorite among fans.
