The untimely demise of Lakshya Chauhan, the 24-year-old son of Delhi Police’s Assistant Commissioner Yashpal Singh, unfolded during a wedding trip to Haryana. The young lawyer from Tis Hazari court was purportedly pushed into a canal in Haryana by his acquaintances Vikas Bhardwaj and Abhishek, marking the culmination of a lingering financial conflict.
The distressing incident transpired on Monday, as Mr. Chauhan, accompanied by Bhardwaj and Abhishek, attended a wedding in Sonepat. With his absence the following day, ACP Yashpal Singh lodged a missing complaint, instigating a search operation.
As the investigation unfolded, it emerged that the financial discord between Mr. Chauhan and Bhardwaj had intensified, leading to a malevolent plot against him. Bhardwaj asserted that Mr. Chauhan had borrowed money and consistently evaded repayment, creating tension between them.
Abhishek, detained after an extensive week-long search, disclosed that Bhardwaj had invited him to the wedding and shared grievances about Mr. Chauhan. The two schemed to execute the top cop’s son during their journey back.
After departing from the wedding function late at night, the trio halted near the Munak Canal. Taking advantage of the situation, Bhardwaj and Abhishek purportedly pushed Mr. Chauhan into the nearby canal before hastily fleeing the scene in his car.
Upon their return to Delhi, Bhardwaj dropped Abhishek in Narela before disappearing. Subsequently apprehended, Abhishek’s statement led to the registration of a police case.
The ongoing efforts aim to locate and apprehend Bhardwaj as the police intensify their search.
