Emmanuel Macron, the leader of France, was the special guest at India’s 75th Republic Day. He watched the big parade and performances with other important people like President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and foreign diplomats.
Macron shared a video of the French band and soldiers in the parade and wrote, “France is honored. Thank you, India!” Prime Minister Modi thanked Macron for joining, saying the French band and planes made the celebration special.
Macron also sent warm wishes to PM Modi and the people of India for Republic Day. He mentioned how happy he was to be in India and celebrate their strong friendship.
Earlier, Macron had talks with PM Modi in Jaipur. A group from France, including a marching team and a band, also took part in the parade. Two French fighter planes and a big aircraft were part of the celebrations.
Because of COVID-19, there were no special guests in 2021 and 2022. Macron’s visit follows other notable guests like Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in recent years.
Macron being there shows the strong connection between France and India. Both countries are looking forward to working together in different areas.
