Shah Rukh Khan is under fire for his comments towards Ram Charan at the pre-wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar. The controversy sparked when Shah Rukh Khan, along with Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, invited Ram Charan to join them on stage during their performance of “Naatu Naatu,” a song featuring Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr. Shah Rukh’s attempt to call Ram Charan onto the stage included speaking in Telugu and using the term ‘idli’, which did not sit well with everyone, leading some to accuse him of racism.
Critics on social media platforms, like X, expressed their disappointment, with one user highlighting Shah Rukh Khan’s alleged insensitivity given his past collaborations with South Indian directors, such as Atlee, who directed “Jawan.” Another comment pointed to Shah Rukh Khan’s ego affecting his behavior, questioning the quality of his acting skills. The situation escalated with Zeba Hassan Zaidi, Ram Charan’s makeup artist, reportedly leaving the event in disapproval, as evidenced by social media shares of her Instagram Story.
Despite the backlash, Shah Rukh Khan’s supporters argued that his remarks were intended in jest and not to be taken offensively. Ram Charan himself seemed unfazed by the incident, promptly joining the Khans for the performance and dancing to “Naatu Naatu” with them on stage.
