OpenAI has introduced a new feature for ChatGPT that enables the chatbot to audibly respond in five different voices. This exciting addition is now available on ChatGPT’s web, iOS, and Android platforms, having been rolled out earlier this month.
The new read aloud feature of ChatGPT is particularly beneficial for users who prefer audio feedback, especially when they’re on the move. Notably, this feature automatically detects the language of the conversation to provide the appropriate response, supporting a total of 37 languages. Additionally, users have the option to set ChatGPT to always respond verbally to messages.
What’s noteworthy about ChatGPT’s new read aloud feature is that it’s not restricted to premium users; even GPT 3.5 users can utilize it at no extra cost.
OpenAI provided details on how to use the new feature: “ChatGPT can now read responses to you. On iOS or Android, tap and hold the message and then tap ‘Read Aloud’. We’ve also begun rolling it out on the web – simply click the ‘Read Aloud’ button below the message.”
A dedicated Read Aloud player will appear at the top of the screen, allowing users to control the playback of ChatGPT’s verbal responses, including play, pause, fast forward, or rewind, according to their preferences.
