Poonam Gupta, an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF, is set to tie the knot with Avneesh Kumar, an officer serving in Jammu and Kashmir, on February 12.

Moved by Poonam’s dedication and exemplary service, the President has ensured that the wedding takes place at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex inside Rashtrapati Bhavan. This grand yet intimate ceremony will be attended by a select group of family members and friends, with strict security protocols in place.

Poonam Gupta’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. A scholar with a mathematics degree, a postgraduate degree in English literature, and a B.Ed. from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, she has demonstrated excellence in both academics and service. She secured the 81st rank in the 2018 UPSC CAPF exam, leading her to join the CRPF as an Assistant Commandant. Most recently, she commanded the CRPF women’s contingent in the 2024 Republic Day parade, further cementing her reputation as a trailblazer.
