Himachal Pradesh Soldier Martyred
Another brave soldier of the Indian Army has laid down his life while protecting Mother India. Praveen Sharma from Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh was martyred during Operation Rakshak, which has been ongoing for the past 2 days in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir. Praveen Sharma, who hailed from Palu village in the Rajgarh sub-division of Sirmaur district, was serving in the 1 Para Special Forces and was only 26 years old. He was the only son of his parents and was set to get married in just 2 months.

The martyr’s body will reach his ancestral village today (Monday, August 12) Sirmaur District Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta has informed that the mortal remains of Praveen Sharma will arrive in Chandigarh on Monday morning. The administration has arranged an ambulance to bring the body from Chandigarh. He also mentioned that the SDM of Rajgarh has been issued appropriate instructions regarding this. The martyr will be laid to rest with full military honors and state rites in his ancestral village of Habban on Monday.

Praveen Sharma’s martyrdom has sent waves of grief across the country, especially in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Industry Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan, and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur have all expressed deep condolences to Praveen Sharma’s family. Prior to this, on July 24, Gunner Dilawar Khan from Una district of Himachal Pradesh was martyred in a clash with terrorists near Srinagar.
