The commencement of pre-wedding festivities for Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son, Anant Ambani, and industrialist Viren Merchant’s daughter, Radhika Merchant, is marked by the tradition of ‘anna seva’. This event signifies the beginning of the couple’s journey towards marriage with a gesture of community service and blessing.
The ‘anna seva’ ceremony, a gesture to seek communal blessings for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s forthcoming nuptials, was hosted by the Ambani family. This event featured the distribution of traditional Gujarati cuisine to the public by Anant Ambani, a director at the Reliance Foundation, and his fiancée Radhika Merchant, in Jogwad village near the Reliance Township in Jamnagar.
The evening progressed with traditional folk music, highlighted by a performance from Kirtidan Gadhvi, a renowned Gujarati singer. This aligns with the Ambani family’s tradition of meal sharing during significant events. Notably, the family, led by Nita Ambani, Anant’s mother, orchestrated extensive food distribution campaigns through the Reliance Foundation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anant Ambani’s decision to initiate his pre-wedding festivities with ‘anna seva’ underscores the family’s commitment to tradition and generosity. The upcoming wedding events promise to showcase the grandeur of Indian cultural practices and traditions. The celebrations, scheduled from March 1-3, will feature an illustrious guest list including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Morgan Stanley CEO Ted Pick, Disney CEO Bob Iger, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, Adnoc CEO Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, and EL Rothschild chairperson Lynn Forester de Rothschild, among others.
