Delhi Chief Minister from BJP
Delhi is set for a major political shake-up! After 26 long years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stormed back to power in the national capital, securing a whopping 48 out of 70 assembly seats—an eye-catching jump from its 2020 tally of just eight. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which once enjoyed a dominant position, has been reduced to 22 seats, while the Congress remains in the political wilderness, failing to open its account for the third consecutive time.

One of the first big decisions from the BJP camp? The new Chief Minister will not reside at the controversial ‘Sheesh Mahal’—a term coined by the BJP to highlight an alleged “big scam” in the extravagant renovation of Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence on Flagstaff Road, Civil Lines. Sources confirm that the incoming CM will move to a different official bungalow.

But who will take the reins of Delhi? The BJP is yet to make an official announcement, but all eyes are on Parvesh Verma, the 47-year-old newly elected MLA who pulled off the biggest political upset of the election by defeating three-time MLA and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat. A two-time MP from West Delhi, Verma was denied a parliamentary ticket last year but made a stunning comeback by taking down Kejriwal in a direct contest. The son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, he has now positioned himself as the frontrunner for the top job.

However, Verma isn’t the only name in the mix. Other strong contenders include:
🔹 Satish Upadhyay, who halted AAP’s Somnath Bharti from securing a fourth consecutive win in Malviya Nagar.
🔹 Ashish Sood, victorious from the Janakpuri seat.
🔹 Jitendra Mahajan, now a three-time MLA from Rohtas Nagar.
🔹 Vijender Gupta, a seasoned leader and three-time MLA from Rohini, who has also served as the president of Delhi BJP.

The grand oath-taking ceremony is expected to take place once Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his upcoming visit to the United States on February 12-13. This marks his first trip to Washington since Donald Trump’s inauguration.

As Delhi prepares for a fresh era of governance, the big question remains: Who will wear the crown? Stay tuned for the BJP’s final pick!
