This is the story of IAS officer Neha Marvya from the Madhya Pradesh cadre. A 2011-batch IAS officer, Neha Marvya was born on August 22, 1986, and hails from Uttar Pradesh. She was academically brilliant from the beginning, which led her to pursue engineering after completing her 12th grade. She prepared for competitive exams and secured admission to the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) in Allahabad for a B.Tech degree. After completing her B.Tech, she began preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. She successfully cleared the 2010 UPSC exam and was selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Following a year of training, she was assigned to the Madhya Pradesh cadre in 2011.

Since joining the service, IAS Neha Marvya has often been at the center of controversies. She has served in several locations in Madhya Pradesh as an SDM, including Ashoknagar, Bhopal, and Betul. Later, she took on roles as the CEO of district panchayats in Datia and Jabalpur.
While serving as the CEO of the Jabalpur District Panchayat, she had a major dispute with District Panchayat President Manorama Patel, which escalated to the Chief Minister’s office, leading to her transfer. When she was the CEO of Shivpuri District Panchayat, an employee, frustrated with unresolved issues, sought permission for euthanasia. She was responding to a concept note by another IAS officer, which suggested that direct-recruit IAS officers should get at least four years as collectors within 14 years of service.
